Geoff Casey MBA
​

Geoff  has an extensive background in regulatory policy, risk and safety management systems in safety critical industries. His primary background and experience have been in the aviation industry including as an airline pilot, in air traffic management, as a regulator and having responsibility for operational safety, risk and investigations at Qantas, including holding the regulatory delegation as Head of Safety.  As well as experience working in rail and mining, he has lectured in Systems Engineering and Risk at Queensland University of Technology.

In recent years Geoff  has been a senior executive with responsibility for setting up the national regulator of heavy vehicles (NHVR) including the delivery of the National Heavy Vehicle Safety Strategy, and associated Safety Program and Assurance Framework.  During his tenure with the NHVR he led the roll out of Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and Safety Management Systems  including the development and delivery of comprehensive guidance and education materials.

​

He has worked closely with boards, executive leadership, Ministers and their advisors to determine, develop and implement appropriate policies and mechanisms to ensure regulatory and safety outcomes are achieved.

​

Having been on both sides of the regulatory fence Geoff has an intimate understanding of the expectations of a regulator and the frustrations and challenges of an operator or business.

Julia Casey MBA   BSpThy  CPSP

Julia has a degree in Speech Pathology and a Master of Business Administration to support a diverse background in leadership initiatives and stakeholder engagement within government and the private sector. Her experience and capability span across the sectors of health, aged care, disability, mental health and justice.

​

As a Member of the Queensland Civil & Administrative Tribunal and former member of the Guardianship and Administration Tribunal (Queensland) and the Mental Health Review Tribunal (Queensland), Julia has specialist knowledge of the complex and interrelated factors pertaining to guardianship/administration, disability and mental health legislation that are relevant to promoting independence and community participation for adults with a mental illness, cognitive disability and/or intellectual disability.  She is skilled in communication access and the application of human rights legislation pertaining to supported decision-making for people with disability.
